Just as I Remember it . . .

For Memorial Day Weekend, we decided to head to Fruitland, Utah to spend the weekend in my grandparents cabin. As a kid I remember going up there and playing, catching lizards, climbing on rocks etc. So we drove up Friday night and stayed until Monday morning.

We told the girls we were going to take them "snipe hunting" while we were there. After my mom told them that snipes were small, furry creatures you can catch and keep as pets, the girls were so excited to catch one. Saturday we checked the area for snipe trails and practiced "clucking our tongues". The girls found long sticks to beat the ground with to scare out the little buggers. Saturday night came and out we went. With a net, pillow case, flashlight and sticks in hand!!!

The girls pounded their sticks on the ground and around the trees to try and scare the snipes out!
Autumn announced that she caught one . . .
Knowing that snipes are not real . . .I could not stop laughing through the entire event. At one point Jody was laughing hard too, and said we should tell them. I said "Girls, I am afraid we may not be able to catch a snipe tonight . . . because they don't exist".
Haylee was surprised (seen in the picture above). But then got mad and started crying. Autumn thought the trick was the best ever. Haylee eventually got over it, and thought the whole thing was funny.
Sunday we met up with Jody's cousin (who owns property a few miles up from the cabin) and they let us borrow their four wheelers for a bit.

Autumn rode with me and we had lots of fun!
Jody and Haylee were a bit more wild, swerving all over.

The weekend was a bit cold and rainy, but we still had a blast. Here are a few more pictures of the weekend.

We saw a few wild animals including this deer right outside the cabin.

A view from Grandpa's property! The girls looking down at the cabin.

The girls spent a good amount of time wrestling!!
On Monday we stopped in Heber City and spent the afternoon with Jody's Aunt Kathy. She made us lunch and the girls had fun playing on her trampoline. She also had basset hound puppies that are 4 weeks old and were sooooo cute. If we had a yard, we may have adopted one!!
The weekend was a much needed break from real life. I do have pictures of my last SKG date with Haylee and I will post them soon!
Serving Him,
Jess

How fun!! Thats funny about the snipes. I remember as a little girl my Young Womens group played that trick on us.. they actually had people in the bushes making "snipe" noises.. We were soo bummed to find out there was no such thing. So tell the girls I feel for them :)
Im glad you guys had a fun Memorial weekend!
