Near Tragedy . . . In My Eyes

Last Friday night I was reading the local news online and saw that an African Children's Choir had preformed at 7pm (of course I was reading this about 8pm). My heart sank. The African Children's Choir visited my home church when I was in 8th grade and changed my heart. It was that very experience which made me fall in love with Africa and later took me on 2 trips to the precious continent. The only thing more tragic than missing the kids sing, was the fact that I was alone that night, and would have had nobody to share the experience with . . .had I known about it earlier.

A couple days went by and I decided to read up on this particular choir (it is a different group then the one I saw 15 years ago. In doing so, I found that the group was still in town and preforming a few other times. Last night Jody and I went to see them sing. The name of the group is "Matsiko" which means "Hope" in their language . . .which I am assuming is Swahili, since they are from Uganda and that language is widely spoken there. The kids melted my heart and it was all I could to not take them home with me :o)

They have sooo much energy!!! The jumped and danced around for the entire hour, while singing their little hearts out! Oh, I so want to go back to Africa . . .and take Jody with me, to share this part of my heart with him. Lord willing, one day I will return!

Serving Him,
Jess
