SKG Date #2 and A Surpirse Party . . .

A lot happened in a short couple of days this week, so this is my attempt at catching up!!!

Haylee is off track and staying with us this week. Although SKG date #2 is not supposed to be until February, I decided it would be easier to do the date this week. The first weekend we have the girls in February we will be doing our 2nd Ultimate Gift date and the other weekend we will be having Haylee's birthday party, so this week just seemed to work the best. This date was learning to be a friend with your neighbor. We learned that your neighbor is anyone God decides you need to bump into that day!!! Our activity was to do a random act of kindness.

Haylee and I decided to bake cookies and deliver them to some unsuspecting people!!!

Haylee worked hard to make the chocolate chip cookies. She is very good in the kitchen, and other than putting the pan in the oven and taking it out, she can pretty much do it all on her own!

We decided to take a plate of cookies to the local fire station. We met a paramedic there and he was very appreciative of our work.
Next Haylee and I paid a visit to a couple ladies we met earlier that morning. We had gone to Albertson's to take advantage of the weekly deal (I got fresh flowers, 5 boxes of cereal and 5 boxes of pancake mix and spent $1.33 out of pocket . . .but that is another story). While there I was talking to the cashier . . . I knew the store was closing, but the cashier mentioned the stress of finding a new job etc. So Haylee and I took her a box of cookies too. When we gave them to her, she gave us a big hug and started crying!!! We left and Haylee wished we had more cookies to give out, she wanted to keep going all day!!

It was really neat to see her reap the benefits of doing something kind for someone else expecting nothing in return!
This last weekend Autumn came home from her mom's house and told us that her brother is really mean to her and says she is stupid and retarded etc. While I know brothers can be mean, I felt that this was too much. Autumn is not the most confident person and I just felt that this would do nothing but damage her all ready hurting spirit. I talked to her mom about it, but wanted Autumn to know that we think she is something special. So . . . Haylee and I planned a surprise "We think your special party". We took flowers to her school (the ones I got at Albertsons) and had the office call her down to get them. They were accompanied by a note saying we would pick her up after school for a special surprise.
Haylee and I were busy at home preparing for her arrival!!
We made cupcakes . . .

And decorated her room . . . (the banner says "You are Special")

We picked her up from school and blind folded her. When she got home and took off the blind fold, she saw all the decorations!

The she did a treasure hunt! Each clue led to a "special surprise" . . . (she found out we were having her favorite dinner, she found the cupcakes, she got to eat off her special plate (from Color Me Mine) etc.). Autumn had lots of fun!!!

I think when it was all done, she knew that we think she is really special!!!
Well, I think that gets you all caught up on this week!!!
Serving Him,
Jess
