Haiti, Or Bust . . .

No doubt, the highlight of my year was a somewhat spontaneous, God ordained and amazing trip to Haiti.  I was sitting in church in February and the youth announced that they were going to Haiti and needed more people to go.  I thought about it all day and worked up the nerve to talk to Jody.  I mentioned and he immediately agreed that I should go.  I set to work to raise the $2,200 need to take the trip in June.

God was amazing and showed up in big ways.  I started setting money aside and people began donating through a fundraiser called "Flocking".  My funds were increasing much faster than I expected!  I had one generous donor that gave me $1,000, which brought me to tears and nearly completed my funding.  In about 6 weeks time, I had funded my trip.  I was the first to be completely funded and one of the last to decide to go.  I have known for nearly 20 years that God had called me to missions and I had proof of that, once again.

I arrived in Haiti after a red eye flight to NYC, then to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.  I immediately asked God to slow time down and took in Every. Single. Moment.  It is hot there - like stand still and pour sweat, hot!!!

My trip was nothing short of amazing.  I cannot detail the countless memories, but I have made a video with pictures, to give you just a tiny glimpse of Haiti.

One of the best parts of my trip was not only meeting, but also spending 3 days with my Compassion Sponsor child Marie Dieunilove.  I love that sweet little girl so much and meeting her was a dream!!

I have big plans to return to Haiti in 2015 and I am taking Jody and Autumn with me (Haylee has no desire to go).  We are all ready fundraising to make this happen.  Sharing my love for international missions with people I love is something I have longed to do since my first trip to Africa in 2003.

God is good and I am blessed!

Serving Him,
Jess
