I knew eventually we would get to the bottom, and we did. When Jody and I picked Autumn up from her grandparents yesterday, Maxine told me there was more to the "doll story" that Autumn had told her and needed to tell me. So when we got home I asked Autumn about it. She said that she drew the first dot and Haylee drew the rest, and she saw Haylee do it. At this point Jody was sick of the whole doll thing, and while I agreed, I knew it was important to get to the bottom and resolve the problem. So I called Haylee's mom explained everything (some of which she all ready knew) and she said she would talk with Haylee and call me back. When she called back, she told me that Haylee said she absolutely did not draw on the doll and was not there when it happened. So I called Autumn into my room and told her that it was essential that at this point she tell the truth. She cried and cried, and through the tears told me that she did it thinking she could just wipe the marker off! So we had a long talk about lying and the importance of honesty . . . seems like I am having this talk a lot these days!
I told Autumn that she would have to buy Haylee a new doll, and because she lied, she is also grounded from her computer game and board games (I know board games sounds weird, but that is her favorite thing to do). I also told her she needed to apologize to both Haylee and her grandma. We got everything settled and she was off to bed.
During the past few days Autumn has started coming down with something and last night had totally lost her voice. So I guess it was no surprise when I heard her crying about 12:15 this morning. I went in to see what was wrong and her throat was hurting. It was red and swollen and she had a slight temperature. Thanking God for 24 hour stores, I headed to WalMart to by throat numbing spray. When I got home, she had fallen back to sleep, but knowing it wouldn't last long, I laid on the couch and waited. Sure enough within 30 minutes I heard her whimpering again. I went in, gave her the spray and she went back to sleep. I think she slept well the rest of the night, but I was so worried about her hurting and not sleeping that I did not sleep well, as every noise I heard woke me up.
I am exhausted today, but TGIF!!!
Serving Him,
Jess
