Finally Working Together . . .

It seems that the entire time I have been with Jody, there has been more tension then cooperation between him and Haylee's mom, thus a tension between the two houses. With the lying problems we have been having with Haylee, we all sat down together (4 parents and 1 child) and had a talk about things that are being said and the truth (or lack there of) behind them. Although I felt better about our meeting on Monday night, I did not feel as though Haylee was really understanding the importance of being an honest person. After talking more with her mom, I found that they felt the same way. Through email, Haylee's mom and I have batted ideas around on how to really hit this home to her, especially in her heart. We have come up with what we think will be a good starting place!

We are putting together a "token system". Every week that Haylee doesn't tell a lie, she gets one token in a jar, but for every lie she tells, two tokens are removed. When she has 26 tokens in her jar (about 6 months worth of no lying) she gets to pick a prize. We are not sure what the prize is yet as we are going to let her pick and she has not been told about this new system. On top of this system we will all be punishing her for her lies by taking away extra fun activities (like Lagoon, the fair, friends birthday parties etc.) that each family participates in (each lie told, results in her absence from the next activity). I am sending the honesty devotional book, that Jody and I did with her a year ago, to her mom's house, so they can go through it together.

I am praying that Haylee will learn in her heart of hearts that lying makes her look bad, hurts others and most of all does not glorify God. Please pray with us!!!

And a side note . . . while we went on Monday to meet with Haylee and her mom and step dad, Autumn went to my parents house and got to take a bubble bath in their big corner jetted tub. Now Autumn thinks we need one. She even asked my mom how much it cost and as I was running her water for lasts night bath, she commented that we need a big tub like grandma and grandpa!

Serving Him,
Jess
