We had a fun but very exhausting weekend!! Saturday morning we got up bright and early to head to the Utah State Fair. I love the fair . . .the food, the rides, the excitement . . .the piglets!!!! So the girls had all day wrist bands so they could ride whatever they wanted as many times as they wanted. Autumn is still a little unsure about some of the rides, which kind of frustrates Haylee (who will ride just about anything), but with a three year age difference and different backgrounds and history of riding rides, it is no surprise. Dad had his camera in tow and we took some really fun pictures!
Of course here is mom and the girls on the tilt-a-whirl!

"Little hands on the farm" was a cute little activity they have for the kids. They go through and plant fake veggies, harvest them, feed them to fake animals etc. Then at the end they have a basket full of harvested items (milk, veggies eggs etc.) that they sale and you get to go into a store and "buy" something with the money you made. Each girl chose root beer flavored milk! It really was a cute activity that taught the kids how farming and plant growing works and gets to the store for us to eat!

We also enjoyed some yummy food at the fair including corn dogs, corn on the cob, funnel cakes, ice cream, snow cones, scones, carmel apples and cotton candy . . .don't worry, we didn't all eat all of those things, we each ate some of those things!!!
We got some really cute and fun pictures of the girls throughout the day . . . .

Here are some more pictures of the girls riding rides!
After a full day of running around, riding rides, eating and having fun, we went and sat down at the Grand Stand for the Natalie Grant concert.
Unfortunately I could only stay for about 5 songs . . .I had a pounding headache and the sound of the drums were killing me. We had a really close parking spot, so I went out to the car and laid the seat back, rolled down the window a bit and could hear the concert just fine without the pounding drums.
We got home pretty late and got to bed quickly. Sunday we had originally planned to go to the Greek Festival, but after talking to a few people we decided not to go. We wanted to see if it was a good place to get a booth for our real estate team, but learned that of all the festivals, this was perhaps the worst one to do that at. Jody and I were glad we didn't go. We were both still wiped out from the day before. After church and visiting Jody's mom, we all went home and vegged the rest of the day!
Today was Autumn's first day back on track at school and last night she was counting down the hours. She was hopeful that she would be learning some more challenging stuff. We went to the library last week and got a few books to read . . . she really is way above 1st grade level. We were reading a book that is a 5th grade level and she was reading fine. She struggled with some words, but overall she knew them.
So we are off to another week!
Serving Him,
Jess

I love caramel apples from the State Fair! But you have to make sure to get them from the food court area and not one of the carnival booths. I think the last time I went to the fair I saw you and your family there a couple of years ago. Maybe I should go this year...
